A couple of days doing lots of little things

Yesterday I managed to spend a good hour and a bit at the allotment planting out the sweetcorn, climbing french beans and some dwarf beans. Also tackled the weeding. I also believe that my first earlies are ready but I'm a bit nervous digging them up. The children were picking the raspberries that were ripe and putting straight in the thier mouths.

Today I spent a good couple of hours doing my beaver scout training ready to over my group in September I'm really looking forward to it but also worried I'm sure it will go ok. I also put some shelves together which is for our shed though I should have measured first as they are two tall. I have managed to get around it by having one half in the shed with tools, paint pots and garden bits on. The other half is in the childrens play house which is used to store thier bikes and various toys so it will help keep that more tidy as they do have a tendency to just throw it all in.

I have also been baking for the cricket clubs teas tomorrow the last one for a three weeks I made a lemon drizzle from river cottage everyday cookbook which is my favourite and a coffee cake which I found in a old good food magazine.

Cricket most of tomorrow and Sunday we are having a family bike ride Mr M wants to try his new bike out mine is coming next week hopefully and I'm determined to spend a good couple of hours at the plot. I do have quite a bit of spare space which I'm unsure what to plant out. Any recommendation much appriciated.

Small little bargain

My little girl was still of sick today though she was a lot brighter but not enough to spend the whole day at school.  I did however need to pop to the postoffice and the local co-op she was well enough for a small walk I didn't really have much choice and as they say a little bit of fresh air will do her good. Having done my little errands quickly we had a bit of time to spare so popped into the charity shop. I'm on the look out for some cake stands and small plates for the cricket club but the ones they did have were very expensive. I did find a book I was toying over buying from a well known Internet shop but decided against I picked it up for £2.00 bargain.

I'm hoping it will help me plan a little better at the allotment. I haven't had a chance to sit down with it yet but I will let you know what I think.

Another illness

The last 6 weeks have been a hard, I haven't manage to get to the plot very much at all it started out so well but with regular trips and keeping on top of the weeding but with illness striking us down both myself and children I haven't been able to spend as much time as possible as I like. Replacing the boiler has taken 3 days out but hopefully when my little girl is on the mend at back at school I hope to put in a couple of good days getting the plot back up to speed. I still have many things to put in but hopefully Thursday or Friday this week I'm down at my plot for the day.

Fathers Day.

Do you know who I am?
Do you ever think of me?
I have no memory of you I have a name but no picture.
Do you want to find or get to know me?
I don't want to find you or know you though I am curious.
What do you do? Where do you live? Do you have a family?
I couldn't be that person to to turn up and expect to fit in.
I couldn't ruin a family who probably know nothing of me.
I often wonder what path my life would have followed if you were in my life.
My childhood would have been so diffrent.
I don't want you to feel guilty because of the things I went through. You won't even know.
Your part of me and I'm part of you but it's one of those things we will never know.

Just something I wrote on my feelings on having a very absent father.

Suffolk Girl Suffolk Girl where have you been......

I've been to London but not to visit the Queen. It was are annual trip to watch England play cricket at Lords. I'm a huge cricket fan and we went on Wednesday for a couple of days which included shopping, watching cricket and a couple of meals out. It's nice for me and Mr M to spend sine time together as he works long hours we rarely get much quality time together.

In other news I have tackled the weeds at the allotment planted some sweetcorn french beans and I'm about to see if my first earlies are ready to dig up though I'm a bit nervous about doing this. We have also embraced the cycling world getting new bikes mainly for fitness and also something we can do together and as a family. There are some fantastic routes around Suffolk waiting to be explored.

I'm slowly catching up with everyone's blogs as I have had a good week away from technology and it's been good though I have missed it.

At last I made it.

Well we are now proud owners of a swanky all singing and dancing heating and hot water system. It should save us money and we can control it away from home. So far we have been impressed with it and also by the engineers who cleaned up after themselves worked very tidily even though they took over most of my house. and also by the amount of tea they drank.

I also manged to make it to plot 8b and tacked the weeding which wasn't as bad as it looked my little boy joined me as my daughter had a play date he worked really hard digging over the weeds though I will need to just go over it with the hoe.

Most things have been growing well the potatoes look really good, carrots starting to poke through runner beans ok out of 10 plants I now only have 8. The peas are no where to be seen anymore even though I netted them I wonder if I could sow some more? The onions seem to be doing well also. I still have a bit to do and to tidy the edges up again as that couch grass don't half spread.

Plenty of raspberries on the plants but still green. We also planted up two butternut squash plants and 6 courgette plants. We have some sweetcorn to go in but tomorrow's weather isn't looking to good and the husband is playing cricket so I am on tea duty. So tomorrow is looking a bit uncertain.

Waiting and trapped

I'm writing this from my lounge as it's the only room along with Daughters bedroom and bathroom which isn't occupied with workmen. British Gas arrived at 8.00 to start the work to replace boiler and hot water system. Carpet are up tanks been removed no water coming from the taps, loud drilling noises holes in the wall, floor boards raised a smell of gas. So I am keeping out of the way. I'm sat here reading my book on allotments and wishing I was there but I'm a bit uneasy about leaving people in my house I don't know. Electric will be going off soon so can't even do my ironing not that I can put the clothes away as wardrobe is empty and gas pipes are going all through the house.

It will be worth it when it's done and the old boiler has done well our bills should be cheaper and it should be quieter when it kicks in in the morning.

Other than that not a lot else to report today.

Back tomorrow for day 2 of chaos, dust and hopefully they will be done

Frustration

We are having our boiler replaced it is twenty three years old and is still working but not efficiently. So we are going for a all singing and dancing combi boiler. Which was supposed to be started today. However last night I received a call to say their job has overran and they won't becoming. The air turned blue but there's not a lot I can do. If I had know I would have spend yesterday tackling the weeds on plot 8b instead of emptying our wardrobe emptying the airing cupboard as the tank is going I could have saved that for today for when it rained.

It's going to be a bit if a upheaval carpets are coming up which I'm dreading they were fitted 3 years ago are cream and I'm hoping they go back as tightly fitted as they are now. Hopefully it will only take a couple of days.

I don't like not going to the plot and it's been noticed that I'm not about. I was stopped in my local co-op today another plot holder was just making sure that I was still around and just to let me know the weeds are growing which I am fully aware of and hoping they won't be there much longer.
