About Me

Saturday 22 February 2014

It's good to go away but it's great to come home again.

We have only been away for a night buts feels longer. We went to visit the Brother In law or Mr M brother o the childrens uncle. He lives in Leicester only five minutes from everything. We stayed in a premier inn which was clean and comfortable and a good breakfast as we didn't fancy kipping on a sofa bed in the lounge. We went to so we can see his new apartment and talk about our New Year Ski trip. We stayed in last night as he cooked well actually I did. We played games which was good fun and planned the holiday. Then today we went to a museum which was good it had exhibitions on Eygpt, the Planet and dinosaurs they were not big but the children enjoyed it and it was free to get in. Upstairs there was an art activity which we took part in. There was shapes made out of wood and using bright card we had to attach parts of the body our created a lot of interest and the children were filmed about the sculpture they made.

We are now back with tired children and tired parents and I'm really looking forward to my bed tonight

Our sculpture has two sides one is based on our boy who is skiing and the other side based on our daughter who loves ballet it looks better in the flesh.

Don't write things in anger.

I didn't post yesterday as I was upset and angry. It was over something that some might find trival but to me it was the undermining of me as a parent. My daughter needed a small trim of her long her which was at middle of the back level it was straight and shiny. A family member  (those who have read previous post will know who I'm talking about) said they would do it.No big problem she's trimmed daughters har before. Having said only trim it cut and inch of at most (you can probably guess what happend next) I go to pick daughter up who now has a bob that sits just on her shoulders! I could have cried in fact I did whilst in bed last night venting my anger and hurt to Mr M after all it was relation that did it.

So might feel I was making a big fuss it's only a haircut and my daughter was happy with it and it loos nice but the really issue is she did what she wanted despite my wishes to only cut an inch of. I guess the lesson I have learnt is next time take her to the hairdressers!

So feeling much calmer and it's only hair it will grow back I have been ordering seeds for the garden and researching accomadation for our New Year skiing holiday today whislt making some soup with some limp and old vegetables for the freezer.

I have finally given in!

About 15 years ago my Husband and I though we were not married at the time actually I think we had only been together about 2 years went on a skiing trip to Switzerland with some friends of his from school. I'm not one for heights and have never flown before so was nervous to start with. I did have a few lessons at the dry ski slope they went ok they could have been better and I'm sure they could have gone a lot worse!

I actually loved the skiing I'm no natrual at it which dissapoints me as I'm naturally sporty and very competitive but I have no coordination at all I had some spectacular falls and took a few people out (sorry) the OH however took to it like a duck to water so while I was pottering about on the nursery slopes they were off doing goodness knows what. But at the end of the day I enjoyed it and it hasn't put me off as we are going again.

I have used every possible excuse from the children are to little we can't afford it we need this doing we need that doing and now I have run out of excuses. The children are desperate to go and even have their first lesson at the ski slope on Thursday.

It will be a family holiday going to France we have spent many hours looking at various resorts to my list of specifications from family friendly ski in ski out so we don't have to catch lifts to the slopes. We have narrowed it down to two resorts and are looking to be away for new year which will be magical.

My husband loves his spreadsheets and had produced one so we can compare costs and we have learnt it is so much cheaper to book it all separately than go with a package though we can't book it all yet as the this current season is still in full swing and some accomadation is unavailable to reserve yet and we want to make sure the children love it I'm sure they will.

So after years of saying no I have finally relented to go on my husbands favourite holiday.

Well at least if I don't stay upright I can at least enjoy the après ski.

Testing time

I have been a bit quiet on here but now I'm back. I can't really give a reason except I have been so busy at times I have felt I have been going around in circles. Life has calmed down now mainly because I have delegated things out to others and have taken a good hard look at myself and realise I can not do it all and as much as I try I'm not super women and I can't fix everyones problems. So I have been spending time with my family and trying to shake of this virus that has been following me around for a good week or so.

I have been catching up with the blogs I love and I will be back blogging more.

Excited about the wind.

I have become a bit obsessive about checking the weather mainly so I know if I can get washing on the line. I don't have a tumble dryer and I really hate having to put clothes on airers around the house so I have been pleased these last two days have been windy and bright enought to get bedding, towels and plenty of other things dry.

Though looking at the forecast we are in for yet another wet and windy night and tomorrow isn't looking much better either.

I haven't got much to say except I'm beavering away on relaunching my new website but I have made time to reach everyone's blogs. I hope I have something of interest to say soon.

Another week passes

It's been a busy week mostly preparing for the Cricket season getting the fixtures sorted and getting sponsorship for the club it's settled down a bit now so next week will be a bit quieter.

Last night I went to a quiz night at Knodishall village hall which my Auntie organised to help raise funds for Marie Curie my cousin and her friend are climbing Kilimanjaro next Feburay and are funding the trip themselves so any funds raised will go straight to the charity. The quiz was very good humoured and we raised over £1000 they are almost at there target of £5000 which is excellent.

Today I have to do a shop so I have planned the weeks meals to make sure I shop effectively and don't buy anything thats going to get wasted or forgotten about. We are saving for a big family holiday next year so every saving we can make will go into our pot for next years holiday.

We have decided not to go away this year we had a big holiday last year and this year we need to replace our boiler which is slowly breaking down and also our kitchen and dining room floor needs doing

That's really it for now a bit boring this end of Suffolk.
