Family and Friends

It's been a while or 8 days to be precise from my last blog post. Nothing much has happened we have had illness Little M violin concerts Little Miss and my birthday (today actually) It's been a lovely day spending it with friends a family. I received many cards and presents which wasn't expected but rather nice. I'm out with friends on Friday for a get together.

Other than that I have been adjusting to my new diet (not to lose weight though I could do with shifting a few lbs) but a new way of life I have just like my daughter coeliacs disease so I am now in the journey of cutting out anything containing gluten. It's not to bad as our main meal at dinner are nearly always gluten free but I'm struggling with breakfast as I would always have boiled or poached egg with granary bread. I know I could eat the gluten free alternative but one I begrudge paying £2.50 for a loaf of bread consisting of 10 slices and two you need a chemistry degree to understand half the ingredients. I would rather go with out. So I'm getting board of yogurt and fruit my daughter eats cornflakes or rice pops  which are naturally GF (waitrose essential) but I don't like them I can't eat porridge for 6 weeks so any ideas would be greatful.

So that's what we have been upto I must make thus blog more interesting somehow.

Slight accident what an inconvenience

Last night I had a meeting and turned up at designated place to find it locked and no sign of life. I was already late so wondered where everyone was. Decided to reverse and bang. Yes I had reversed into a sign which I didn't see of course I didn't see it other wise I wouldn't have hit it. resulting in two dents in back of car and a completely shattered rear window screen. Thankfully I was ok and no one else involved actually no one else was around. So I am now with out a car which is rather annoying while we wait for a new window to be found. It's quite an old car it's my first ever car it was only 6 months old when I got it and I have owned it since 2000 it's cheap to run and doesn't require much maintenance passed its MOT. So I'm rather upset that it's now not able to be used and I'm now trying to catch lifts and ask favours so the children can get to their after school activities.

Luckily Mr M has a good car which we use at weekends and he uses it to the station everyday I have only been allowed to drive it once he cleans it regularly and I was told under no uncertains terms I'm not allowed anywhere near his car! So I think I have blotted my copy book on that one.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon as even though I don't drive it everyday it's nice to know its there if I need it.

Monday's Mumblings

Well the day started with a trip to the Drs resulting in me needing a scan within the next two weeks. hopefully nothing serious looks to be a common problem that women get anyway. At least they didn't fob me off and looking into it. Also having a daughter with coeliacs disease it normally comes from somewhere and they think it's from me so I am following a strict gluten free diet  for 6 weeks which won't be to hard as we eat our main meals as GF anyway. Though I will miss bread bit will be allowed chocolate.

Today I took my friends dog for a walk and walked around the castle a place that I never tire of the sun was shining and the birds were singing the brooks were full but couldn't see any tadpoles really want to take my two tadpolling as it was such great fun watching them turn into little frogs. So I will have to keep an eye out for them.

Most of the day has been cleaning and staring out of the window thinking the grass won't cut itself I really must get out and do it but it will have to wait as I have a committee meeting tonight that I really must go to after football practise and doing homework with the children.

Gosh I sound really boring.

I'm not a pushy mum just slightly competitive

Today my Little M made his debut at football. It's funny watching them play they all chase the ball around like a swarm of bees and tackle anyone even if it's your own team. He woke up with nerves this morning which is good but most of all I wanted him to have fun which he did. I was determined not to be a pushy mum shouting on the side lines however I am slightly competitive and whooped with joy when he score a cracking goal even if I say so myself.

I was going to post a recipie for a beef casserole I cook but as we didn't have that today due to the fact I had run out of stock which is dairy, gluten and egg free (you will be surprised what they milk and wheat to these days) so we had roast brisket of beef from Emmerdale farm shop which I have found has some of the most tastiest and cheapest meat around and it all comes from local farms.

I will get more organised and start adding how I feed my family the same food with out cooking lots of diffrent things to accomadate everyone.

A walk beside the seaside.

Waking up to glorious sunshine this morning and a good wood meant that I could get two loads of washing on the line. As we had nothing planned and after an hour trying to decide what to do. It was agreed to go for a walk at the coast. So with a packed lunch  we headed to Southwold it was quite busy on both the promenade and town. We walked from the pier to the harbour thinking we would get a bag of chips each to find it was closed so we walked back to the pier for a bag. Which was well deserved after a 3 1/2 mile trip there and back.

One thing I do get asked about and think I will incorporate some recipes into the blog is how I cope with a child who has many allergies. I often get comments it must be really hard or she must miss out on lots of things. My daughter has severe reactions to any Dairy product including sheep and goat products she also reacts to eggs and she has coeliacs disease which means she can not tolerate anything containing gluten.

To us it's just a way of life I cook everything from scratch and it usually consits of meat and vegetables. She doesn't feel like she missing out as she knows no difference as she's had theses since she was a baby.  The cakes a sweets and cause a small problem but I'm getting quite good at making alternatives for her.

We try to eat the same things so I don't have the risk of cross contamination or feel like I'm cooking lots of diffrent things. She and all of use eats really healthy but it does require planning as I can't just put something in the oven if I have nothing  planned.

Tomorrow I will add one of our favourites which is a beef casserole which is slow cooked for hours resulting in moist meat that falls apart.

Fridays Ramblings

I'm sorry http://frugalinsuffolk.blogspot.co.uk but I enjoyed your post so much yesterday that I'm having to copy your idea. It made me smile so much so I hope my Ramblings bring someone else a smile.

Wow it's foggy hope it clears before I have to drive later

Why do my children never wake up early for school but tomorrow they will be up with out me having to wake them at 7.

Bit nippy outside this morning

What shall I cook for dinner tonight

Just checking blogs for 5 mins  how did half an hour pass so quickly really must do some proper work.

My grass needs cutting I will do it tomorrow or possibly Sunday

Still foggy

Sausage casserole and mash for dinner I know the children will eat it.

Suns just come out

Council tax has kept the same as last year bonus.

When did my children grow up so quickly so proud of my little boy in his assembly today.

Wonder what time Mr M will get home tonight.

Really will spend tomorrow in the garden (thinking this whiles starring out of the window peeling potatoes)

Looking forward to a relaxing bath later.

You wouldn't believe I have spent the day doing house work looking at the state of my house now. Why do children make such a mess.

Turning computer off now.

Head in the books

If you have been following my blog you might know I'm a beaver leader or training to be one. I signed up to volunteer as they were short and my son was starting.  When I signed up I knew I needed to do first aid and child protection that is only to be expected. What I wasn't so keen on was going back to study putting my head in the books to gain my wood woggle. Well I have been spending the last few days with my training manual completing section 1 there are 30 in total on the history of scouts. I can understand why they do it to make sure the people involved know what they are doing but there is a part of me that thinks more people would volunteer if they didn't have to do so much. I have 5 months to complete my training along with some day courses though I'm afraid they will have to wait until the cricket season which will soon be upon us is finished.

In other news it's been a lovely day here washing on the line windows thrown wide open it's such a shame it's been spent with my head in the books. My grass needs cutting my boarders need weeding and I really need to think where the veg will be planted as my current plot is just to shady. It's supposed to be a really nice weekend so I'm sure it will be one spent in the garden.

Quizzes and cards.

It's been such a lovely couple of days and perfect for getting the washing dry though it does mean I now have a huge pile of ironing which will get done tomorrow. I was planning to get out in the garden today but it's still quite boggy on our grass and as I only have a little flymo didn't really want to risk cutting the grass. Think I will leave it till next weekend if the weather stays good.

Friday night we went to a Quiz to support the local church and much to our surprise we won. We had a good mix off people on our team my friend whose a Dr her husband a teacher and his parents who was a vicar. Luckily I was able to answer the 90s pop round and any relating to childrens tv and a few general knowledge. Mr M is particularly good on sport so we were well covered.

We have Mr M gran staying with his parents for a few days so we have been playing cards for money. Luckily it was only pennies and it really helped the children also. We played Sevens and Newmarket and at times it was getting tense. It's so much fun playing cards and it's great to spend time with family there were 4 generations of the same family at the table something that can be very rare these days.

Back to the routine tomorrow I have to do a poster for the Quiz night for the Cricket Club on the 12th April so if any Suffolk people are interested in coming its teams of 6 £6.00 per a person which includes a jacket potato supper let  me know and I can let you have more details.

Apart from that I have a reasonably quiet week but I am looking forward to catching up with my friend and old neighbour on Tuesday.

Mind Games

Last night myself and Mr M went to watch Derren Brown at Ipswich. I was a bit sceptical at first but it really was amazing. I'm not sure how he does the things he does and manage to read people's minds thoughts ect. But seeing it live makes it so much better. It's really hard to actually say what he does without spoiling it for anyone who actually is going to see him but if you do ever get the chance it really is worth it.

It's a lovely bright day with a bit if wind so washing is blowing nicely on the line and we are at the In laws for lunch as the children slept there last night. Mr Ms nan is staying for a little while and the children adore her so it's great to catch up a bit with her. I'm sure at some point today we will go for a walk but I'm desperate to get in the garden. I was given some Sarah raven tulips which don't appear to materialised but the tulips I have had in for a few years are now starting to show ams well as new buds on the honeysuckle. I have not done any vegetable planting yet I'm so far behind and now not really sure where to start.

I will have to have a look in some books I have.

Just a catch up.

I have been fairly busy with the launch of my new site that I seem to be be spending hours at the computer also haven't had a lot to say which is so unlike me. Apart from this I haven't been up to much but I now have a little spare time to now to catch up on many things. First is to make my daughter a cape for world book day she's hoping as the snow queen from the Lion witch and wardrobe.  Tonight we are going to see Derren Brown at the regent in Ipswich I'm a bit sceptical as I don't like it when people play mind games.

We have booked our skiing holiday for New Year and now looking at learning to ski in a day packages at the uk snow domes which will be good fun. It's will soon be cricket season so weekends will be taken up with that with me preparing the teas on Saturdays. I will let you know how it goes tonight.
